CONTRACT MARINE SUPERINTENDENT (Code : CMS)
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe and effective commencement of operation within contractual timeliness.
  • Implement and monitor management plans and ensure that they are delivered within timescales and budgeted targets.
  • Ensure Commercial and Operational contracted specifications are met.
  • Ensure compliance to contract and undertake required safety and quality audits of designated contracts.
  • Continuously interrogate designate contracts to determine ways in which to increase profitability, reduce costs and maintain specified service levels.
  • Ensure legal structure and Company registration / documentation continue to comply with all national and local authority requirements and Company Policies.
  • Resolve legal and non-client related contractual matters in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain all legally required documentation, ensure that they are current, safely stored and accessible as and when required by authorized personnel.
  • Ensure that the contract requirements are met to the complete satisfaction of the customer.
  • Ensure that all operations are undertaken in a safe manner in compliance with Company and customer requirements.
  • Plan and manage the operation of the Marine Fleet and shore facilities.
  • Negotiate and manage all service agreements, sub-contracts etc within limits of authority.
  • Conduct effective HSE Meetings.
  • Ensure that effective audits (in line with the Company OMS) are conducted at defined, regular intervals.
  • Administer shift and leave rotations for shore and sea staff.
  • Conduct effective staff appraisals and make recommendations for training, development and promotion.
  • Plan implement and maintain a ‘comprehensive training scheme’ to develop local content including manpower. Formulate Personal Development Plan for each man.
  • Maintain all company assets to a high standard commensurate with accepted international standards and industry best practice.
People Management
  • Manage, motivate and empower team.
  • Provide support, guidance and development of subordinates.
  • Manage induction and familiarization of all staff.
  • Plan and manage an indigenous manpower programme in line with contractual requirements.
  • Manage the administration of local purchases, contractors and financial responsibility for the same.
  • Administer leave rotations for shore and sea staff ensuring that all operations are maintained.
  • Recruit, induct, train and development staff to meet contractual responsibilities.
  • Ensure that staff are familiar with and comply at all times with stated Operational Procedures
  • Recruit and select sea staff.
Financial Management
  • Ensure best services, least cost and within budget.
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing of services given to customers; ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Ensure company compliance with legal and fiscal government and statutory requirements covering V.A.T., corporate tax, p.a.y.e. etc.
  • Ensure recovery of outstanding payments from clients is executed within desired time limits.
  • Control and manage petty cash float within agreed limits and submit receipts and accounts for same on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure effective financial planning and control is adopted at all times to maximize profitability throughout the duration of contract.
  • Administer wage payment, housing, catering and all other ancillary functions.
  • Manage the administration of local purchases, contractors and financial responsibility for the same.
Customer Focus
  • Develop productive long-terms relationships with key personnel in existing and potential client organizations, government and competitors.
  • Assist in the development and introduction of initiatives that improve business performance.
Reporting
  • Concise reporting of projects progress against Plans detailing any time/cost variances with recommendations.
  • Keep clients advised of all operational and marine matters related to their operations.
  • Identify potential competitors and provide up to date market intelligence.
  • Report upon incidents affecting the operation and which may affect it externally.
  • Manage and report any insurance claims and compile claim reports / documentation for submission to underwriters.
